Using Backgrounds

If you want to try one of these as a background image, first copy the image to your hard disk:

  1. In your web browser, right-click the picture you want.
  2. If you're using Internet Explorer choose Save Picture As. If you're using Navigator choose Save this Image as.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, go to the folder where you store your web pages (e.g. My Web Site.)
  4. In the File name box type in a filename that will be easy to remember later (or just use the existing .gif or .jpg file name) and choose OK.

Adding a Background to your Page

After the picture is on your hard disk, you can define it as a background image to use in any page. Here's how:

  1. Open or create, using Word IA, the page that you want to put the background into.
  2. Move the insertion point up to the top of the document (press Ctrl+Home).
  3. From Word IA's menu bar choose Format > Background and Links.
  4. Click the Browse button next to Image, work your way to the picture that you want to use as the background image, and choose OK.

In Word IA, you'll only see a blue tag. But if you open the page in a web browser, you should see the background image tiled throughout the screen.
